What do I love about working for the college?

I enjoy being a small part of seeing our students and faculty succeed. Being able to encourage them in a small way is worth it all.

Working at UT is a family affair for my family: my husband, daughter, and son-in-law all work for the university. On October 21, 2026, I will celebrate 30 years with UT.

I am thankful for the opportunity that Ann Robinson-Craig, former budget director for the college, gave me 13 years ago when a position I was in was eliminated. Since, I’ve worked in three different departments and had the opportunity to work with two high school programs. I’ve been with the Department of Political Science for the last seven years.

My current position and working at UT are a dream come true for me. My paternal grandmother worked in laundry at the UT Medical Center when it was part of the state. She seemed to like a job that I think would have been very hard and retired from there with 30 years of service. The way she liked the place and people she worked with made me want to work here.

It does not hurt that I bleed orange and love the Tennessee Vols and the Volunteer spirit.

What do I do for the college?

As the business manager for the Department of Political Science, I oversee all aspects of the financial side of the department. Since my job is tracking and managing financials in the department, I make sure everyone is paid and funds are available to help with their research. Together with one administrative assistant and help from Shared Services in the college, we see that the department runs smoothly.

Kudos Program

I try to work hard and do my job to the best of my ability, but I am not perfect; I strive to improve daily. Receiving kudos encourages me to keep going and helps me know I am making a difference.
