Specialty Programs
The College of Arts and Sciences offers a variety of specialty programs that allow students to customize their education. From honors and interdisciplinary study to teacher preparation and pre-professional pathways, these opportunities prepare students for graduate study, careers, and lifelong learning.
College Scholars Program
The College Scholars Program is an interdisciplinary honors program in the College of Arts and Sciences. Our program exists solely for highly motivated and academically talented students who have clear goals for their undergraduate education, and who cannot attain those goals within the traditional requirements structure of the college.
Departmental Honors Programs
In addition to the College Scholars honors program, departmental Honors is also offered for many degree concentrations across the college. You will take Honors courses, complete an Honors thesis, and receive one-on-one mentorship. Honors students must maintain high GPAs which vary based on departmental and program requirements. If you’re driven by curiosity and a desire for intellectual challenges, departmental Honors will push you to expand your potential and open a clear path forward as you step outside your comfort zone and into a world of possibilities.
Interdisciplinary Programs
The College of Arts and Sciences Interdisciplinary Programs offer students unique pathways to explore topics such as cultures, societies, science, and technology beyond the lens of any one field. With 30+ majors, minors, and certificates, students will have the opportunity to explore a single field of study from a variety of perspectives, combining coursework from across disciplines. The breadth of understanding students acquire gives them the creativity and wisdom to connect ideas into remarkable solutions.
Pre-Professional Programs
Pre-Professional Programs in the college prepare students to apply for and be accepted into various professional schools including dental, veterinary, medical, pharmacy, or law school. Students can choose from five concentrations: pre-dentistry, pre-law, pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, and pre-veterinary.
Teacher Education Program
Teacher Education Programs at the university vary greatly depending upon the area of the licensure that a student is seeking. Some programs have undergraduate and graduate tracks while others only offer licensure at the graduate level.
