Student Success
The College of Arts and Sciences offers a broad range of resources, opportunities, and experiences to promote student success. Our college opportunities help transform the way students show up to the academic world, preparing them for success.

Beyond the Classroom
Some of the most valuable learning happens when you put ideas into motion. Build relationships, test your interests and develop skills you can carry into your career through leadership, research and hands-on experiences.

Undergraduate Research
Investigate questions that matter through individual or group research, creative projects, and classroom or capstone work. Often working alongside faculty mentors, students learn how knowledge is created and gain experience explaining their ideas, methods, and findings to others.
The Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Symposium, or ASUReS, gives students from across the college an annual opportunity to share their research and creative achievements through professional-style talks, multimedia presentations, exhibitions, and other formats.
Career-Ready Experiences
Put what you are learning into practice in professional and community settings. From internships and fieldwork to service-learning courses, these experiences help you build practical skills, clarify your goals, and form connections that prepare you for what comes next.
Global Learning
Study abroad can help you see your field—and your place in the world—from a new perspective while earning credit and building meaningful connections.
Leadership
Find ways to represent your peers, welcome new Vols, mentor other students and grow into the kind of leader who brings people and ideas together.
Student Organizations
Build community around shared interests, contribute through service and develop leadership skills alongside other students.
Beyond the Major
Success is not standardized, and your academic path does not have to be either. Combine fields, deepen your interests and choose opportunities that give your education a professional fingerprint all your own.

Customize Your Degree
Build an academic path around the questions, fields and goals that matter most to you. These options can help you connect disciplines or add another area of expertise.
Accelerate Your Education
Qualified students can earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in as little as five years, building advanced expertise while saving time.
Challenge Yourself
Honors programs offer enriched coursework, research and academic experiences for students ready to take their learning further.
