Our program is a great fit for students or professionals looking to enhance their teaching credentials in math, while also gaining knowledge in algebra, probability, statistics, and related subjects.
The MMath in Mathematics does not require students to complete a thesis; instead, you’ll complete a substantial portfolio of work you can use in your job search, giving you a competitive edge and setting you apart in the job market.
Plus, with entirely online courses, you can earn your degree from anywhere, whether you’re already enrolled at UT or you’re a working professional in the classroom.

What Can You Do with a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics After Graduation?

MATH 504 Discrete Mathematics for Teachers
This course covers enumerative combinatorics, functions and relations, recurrence relations and recursively defined sets. Students will also study elementary graph theory.
MATH 510 Mathematical Modeling for Teachers
In this course, students will learn to apply mathematics to solve real-world problems. Students will investigate meaningful and realistic problems encompassing many academic disciplines including economics, ecology, environmental science, sociology, and management. Mathematical tools could include difference equations, differential equations, and scientific computing. Students will be familiarized with available computation and visualization packages, as appropriate for the applications included in the course.
MATH 530 Differential Equations for Teachers
Students will learn elementary solution techniques for differential equations. Other topics might include existence and uniqueness of solutions, laplace transform, series solutions, systems of differential equations, and stability and phase plane analysis.
MATH 550 Linear Algebra for Teachers
In this course, students will learn the teaching methodology of solving systems of linear equations with matrices, Gaussian elimination, matrix computations, determinants, vector spaces, subspaces, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, applications.
