You’re nearing graduation. This year is about finishing strong and preparing for what comes next.

What Advising Looks Like This Year

During your senior year, advising focuses on:

  • Confirming graduation eligibility
  • Finalizing degree requirements
  • Reviewing your graduation timeline
  • Preparing for career or post-graduate plans

This is a year of completion and launch.

Before Your Appointment

To prepare:

  • Review your DARS and confirm remaining requirements
  • Verify your intended graduation term
  • Review upper-division and residency requirements
  • Confirm your catalog year
  • Draft your final semester plan

If you have transferred coursework or petitions pending, prepare documentation.

During Your Appointment

In your advising meeting, you and your advisor will:

  • Confirm graduation requirements are met
  • Review credit hour and residency requirements
  • Discuss graduation application timelines
  • Finalize remaining coursework
  • Review post-graduate plans

This is also a good time to discuss:

  • Internship-to-employment transitions
  • Graduate or professional school applications
  • Faculty recommendations
  • Career readiness resources

Graduation Planning

Senior year is the time to:

  • Submit your graduation application (typically one year in advance)
  • Confirm catalog year eligibility
  • Ensure all upper-division credit requirements are satisfied
  • Review honors qualifications if applicable

Planning ahead prevents delays.

After Your Appointment

After meeting with your advisor:

  • Register for final coursework
  • Follow up on referrals and recommendations
  • Confirm graduation application status
  • Meet with Career Development if needed
  • Stay in communication if plans change

Finish with clarity and confidence.

Career & Post-Graduate Preparation

Senior year is your transition year.

Consider:

  • Finalizing your resume and LinkedIn profile
  • Attending job fairs or networking events
  • Preparing for interviews
  • Exploring graduate or professional school timelines
  • Consulting pre-professional advisors, if applicable

Your advisor and Career Development team are resources in this process.
