Vols Behind the Vision: Laura Clayton

Laura Clayton
Financial Administrator
College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)
What do I love about working for the college?
I love helping people and managing finances. I am proud to say that I work for UT and the College of Arts and Sciences. I also love sports and attend many athletic events at UT. I am a season ticket holder for football, men’s basketball and softball, and I also try to go to women’s basketball and baseball when I can.
What do I do for the college?
In my role with the college, I manage budgets for several accounts, including advising, communications, facilities, research, institutional transformation and grad support, and divisional dean strategic fund accounts. I also act as the business manager for the Judith Anderson Herbert Writing Center, the Department of Africana Studies and most recently, NIMBioS.
My role impacts undergraduates and graduate students through awards given by the divisional deans. I also coordinate several scholarships for the College of Arts and Sciences and the College Scholars program.
I help faculty through managing startup account budgets and awards from the various divisional dean and college administrative units. I also support staff answering questions and helping understand policy.
I’ve been financial administrator for the college since July 10, 2023. Prior to that I was the business manager in the Department of Nutrition from 2021 to 2023, and prior to that I worked at the University of Vermont for 21 years.
Kudos Program
It feels amazing to receive kudos for my work. The kudos lunch is nice, and I really appreciate it, but knowing that other staff and faculty appreciate my hard work means everything to me.
