Chemistry Faculty Presents Machine Learning in Switzerland

Vogiatzis leads international workshop in computational catalysis and machine learning.
Associate Professor Konstantinos Vogiatzis, Department of Chemistry, received a senior fellowship for 2024–2025 from Collegium Helveticum, a Swiss institute for advanced study. The fellowship is supported by ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, and the Zurich University of the Arts.
As part of the fellowship, Vogiatzis and Associate Fellow Markus Reiher presented a workshop in May 2025 at Collegium Helveticum titled “Boosting Computational Catalysis with Machine Learning: Current Challenges, Limitations, and Opportunities.” The event gathered leading researchers at the crossroads of computational catalysis and machine learning to explore how data-driven tools can address present limitations, enhance predictive accuracy, and open new avenues for catalysis research, setting the stage for collaborative efforts to accelerate discovery in this rapidly evolving field.
Vogiatzis joined the college in 2016 as a specialist in theoretical and computational chemistry and also serves with UT’s Bredesen Center.
