Vols Behind the Vision: Carmen Atkins

Carmen Atkins
Graduate Program Coordinator/Financial Manager
UT School of Art
What do I love about working for the college?
I really enjoy getting to meet and work with a wide variety of students. We have such a wonderful population of graduate students, and I love being able to contribute to their academic journeys.
I love the community at the university and knowing that we are all working toward a common goal. I feel like the work I do contributes to the success of our team and our students and that makes me excited to come to work every day. I hope to be with UT for the long haul and am just happy to be here!
What do I do for the college?
My role has two different aspects. As the financial manager, I aid in maintaining expense reports across our department through procurement and travel card reconciliations, travel expense report preparation, processing accounts payable, and providing support to the business manager on financial matters.
As the graduate program coordinator, I provide support to our graduate students as they navigate through their program and work closely with the director of graduate studies and graduate committee to manage GTA scheduling and coordination between faculty, staff, and graduate students.
Kudos Program
Receiving kudos for my work is an honor. I really love the work that I get to do but I think it means even more to have people notice that I love the work and that I’m putting my all into it.
