Prestigious World Affairs Scholarships Awarded to Arts & Sciences Vols
by Gavin Thagard
Seven UT students in the College of Arts and Sciences received scholarships through the McClure and Mae Scheib Scholarship Fund for the Study of World Affairs.
The recipients for the 2024-2025 academic year are Dana Nabil Khalil Abu Haltam, Orhan Dogan, and Kacper Grass from the Department of Political Science; Stella Korleki Ashong and Rossana Diaz from the Department of Sociology; Kyle Scripko from the Department of History; and Guido Alberto Herrera Rodriguez from the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
The scholarships are awarded by the Center for Global Engagement’s Scholarship Committee based on research and academic achievements and provide financial awards of up to $5,000 to support research and creative projects internationally, fostering a sense of global responsibility. They can be utilized for projects aimed at advancing understanding of key issues in world affairs and addressing international conflicts, primarily through legal, cultural, political, economic, social, and scientific studies.
By funding research and creative projects abroad, the McClure and Mae Scheib families’ generosity continues to help UT students expand their knowledge, extend their global footprint, and create stronger partnerships around the world.
