Celebrating our College
Well, we made it. The end of another academic is here and, this Friday and Saturday, we celebrate the graduating class of 2022. Congratulations to all of you for your role in helping our graduate and undergraduate students make it to this point of their academic journey. Thank you for serving as mentors to our students and supporting them as they navigate the road to a degree. Thank you for your dedication to our students, our college, and the university.
In case you missed it, students, faculty, and staff in our college took center stage during the 2022 Chancellor’s Honors Banquet and Academic Honor’s Program. Congratulations again to everyone honored! Next year, I hope all our departments take the time to submit nominations, as it is one mechanism for letting our community know that we value their exceptional efforts in the areas of teaching, service, research and outreach. This is a great opportunity to show the breadth and depth of all we have to offer as the College of Arts and Sciences.
This spring, we also published another edition of Higher Ground, which we sent digitally to our alumni, donors, faculty, and staff. This year’s theme was reflection and the centerpiece of our printed edition was Ayres Hall, which turned 100 years old in 2021. If you did not get a chance to read the online edition, I encourage you to read the features celebrating our college. We will distribute printed copies to each department later this month.
Finally, I hope you have an opportunity to rest and enjoy some down time this summer, while also meeting your work goals for the summer. The three months fly by and before we know it, we will begin the 2022-23 academic year with some new leadership in our college, as well as new faculty, staff, and of course – a new incoming class of first-year students.
