Vols Behind the Vision: Katie Burnett

“I love the community and the collegiality in arts and sciences—I always feel challenged and engaged.”

Katie Burnett

Associate Director of Transdisciplinary Programs
Denbo Center for Humanities and the Arts

What do I love about working for the college?

I love the community and the collegiality. My job requires collaborating with so many different offices, departments, and positions within the college, from staff to faculty to students, and it’s a joy to interact with so many levels of expertise. I love attending exhibitions at the UT Galleries and collaborate regularly with the director, Julie Lohnes. No day is exactly the same, and I always feel challenged and engaged.

What do I do for the college?

I develop and coordinate programming in the Denbo Center, which ranges from managing and running our fellowship program; public programming like lecture and film series; and faculty development programming like research seminars or writing and research workshops.

I also serve on committees with our collaborating partners: the Judith Anderson Herbert Writing Center; the Office of Community Engagement and Outreach; Marco; the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development.

Kudos Program

I’m honored to receive kudos—and just a little bit surprised.
