Personal Interests: I enjoy reading obviously, but I particularly enjoy literary biography and literary journalism. I also love going to the movies, and binging prestige/crime drama like Mad Men and True Detective. And, besides my job of course, I enjoy spending time with friends watching/playing sports (basketball and even rock climbing recently), having engaging conversation, and playing with our pets.

Educational Philosophy

I believe education is all about coming around to the real truth at the heart of all those clichés we know too well: “learning is the job of a lifetime” or “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” or “actions speak louder than words” or even “ignorance is bliss.” If you really learn during your time at UT, you’ll understand your learning never stops, that you should be here now and make the best of it, that what you do says more about you than what you think, and that sometimes forgetting can be just as joyful as learning.
