Academic Advisor for the Department of Psychology
Hometown
Knoxville, TNBiography
Though I have wings, my Knoxville roots run deep. I love supporting local makers, farmers, restaurants and exploring the urban wilderness. I run on coffee, preferably iced, and am a sucker for ice cream and salty snacks. I love spending time in the Great Smoky Mountains and finding a good place to watch the sunrise/sunset. Though I don’t play any instruments (besides the recorder), music is a huge part of my life and I love/miss the shared experience of going to concerts. I enjoy listening to podcasts and enjoy all of the streaming services. I have a wide variety of interests, so favorites of any kind are always hard for me. I am lifelong Vol Fan and huge supporter of the USWNT. I have a rescue pup named Krieger and my ideal day is spent relaxing and enjoying leisure activities in a beautiful place with my family.

Educational Philosophy
Education is the cornerstone of tradition and progress. It holds the key answers to life’s questions and creates new ones in the pursuit of knowledge. Education is both individual and community based and each hold a responsibility in the learning process. I believe in the validity of various forms of education both formal and informal and believe that creativity, innovation, and inclusion are critical components of a meaningful education. Education allows you to consider perspectives, experiences, cultures, and ways of thinking that you would not have otherwise known. It teaches you to think critically and helps you to define your values. As your advisor I will listen to you, challenge you, and hopefully make you laugh a long the way.
