Kayla Lang (‘18) joined the College of Arts and Sciences communications team in September as the new digital communications manager. Lang previously worked in the UT Department of Chemistry as the communications and graduate student recruitment coordinator and brings three years of experience working in communications at UT with her to this new role.
“I am always passionate about the opportunities that UT has to offer,” Lang said. “Being surrounded by so many people that value the pursuit of higher education keeps me enthusiastic about the future.”
Lang will provide her expertise in digital content and design, as well as data analytics. She will work with the director to development and implement strategy for improving the web landscape for the college and help departments with updates to current sites. She will also help develop social media strategy for the college and the student social media ambassador program.
Raised in Knoxville, Lang has had opportunities to travel around the world. Tennessee, however, is the only place she wants to call home and embraces the Volunteer spirit – as both an employee and an alumna from the UT College of Communication and Information.
“To me, being a Vol means encouraging a diverse community with a shared commitment to discovery, creativity, education, and engagement,” Lang said.
Lang spends most of her free time with her two-year-old daughter.
“She is my favorite person in this world and I am constantly fascinated by her” Lang said. “I always try to be the best version of myself for her.”
When she is not spending time with her family, Lang enjoys crafting, dancing, watching anime, and gaming.
“I believe happiness can be achieved through improvement, so I strive to be a better than I was the day before,” Lang said.
