Diversity & Engagement Funding Opportunities

The Division of Diversity and Engagement provides several funding opportunities for faculty and staff. Competitive funding opportunities are rooted and awarded in their data driven potential to support the volunteer spirit, encourage discovery, and create an impact.

Challenge Grants
This funding opportunity is available for teaching or research projects that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), racial injustice, systemic racism, class, human dignity, or social justice. Individual and team projects are acceptable. Projects should demonstrate relevance, research, reciprocity, and resilience. PI’s can request up to $3,000 per project.

Sponsorship
Funding is provided for individuals and teams that support a variety of projects that address UT’s land grant mission of teaching, research, and service/public engagement. Up to $2,000 can be requested.

Mini Grants
Mini grants provide support for projects and activities that focus on public engagement and outreach activities. Proposals up to $1,000 are considered. Individuals and teams can apply.

The deadline to submit a request is September 15 for fall and February 15, 2021, for spring. Individuals interested in summer funding should meet the February 15 deadline. Submission forms may be found on the Diversity and Engagement website. Please direct questions to Javiette Samuel, jsamuel@utk.edu.
