MATH 503 Mathematical Reasoning and Proofs for Teachers
This course teaches students the logic of compound statements and quantified statements, arguments with quantified statements, set theory, proof methods, and elementary number theory. Mathematical writing and design of writing projects for mathematics classes are also covered.
MATH 507 Probability for Teachers
This course focuses on probability models including discrete and continuous random variables, Binomial and Poisson distributions, independence, and conditional probability and Bayes’ rule. Students will also learn Chebyshev inequality and limit theorems.
MATH 508 Statistics for Teachers
In this course, students will explore the mathematics behind major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Topics include basic statistical measures, basic probability, sampling distributions, simulation of sampling distributions, the Central Limit Theorem, Statistical Inference, estimating population parameters, and hypothesis testing.
MATH 550 Linear Algebra for Teachers
Students will learn teaching methodology of solving systems of linear equations with matrices, Gaussian elimination, matrix computations, determinants, vector spaces, subspaces, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, applications.
