Personal Interests

I am an avid video gamer, and anyone that comes to my office will see this. Never really been into Xbox or PC; I’m strictly a Playstation and Nintendo fanboy. My absolute favorite series is Assassin’s Creed, but I am also a huge fan of lighter, old school games like Pokémon, Banjo-Kazooie, Spyro, and Kingdom Hearts. I love horror movies (particularly those involving zombies), and I have a relatively large DVD collection. There is nothing I enjoy more than sitting for hours and mindlessly browsing through YouTube videos. I clearly don’t get out much…

Education

B.A., Social Science and Sociology, Spanish minor, Frostburg State University

M.Ed., Higher Education Administration, Vanderbilt University

Educational Philosophy

My view on education can be summed up perfectly by this quote from Hanna Holborn Gray: “Education should not be intended to make people comfortable, it is meant to make them think. Universities should be expected to provide the conditions within which hard thought, and therefore strong disagreement, independent judgment, and the questioning of stubborn assumptions, can flourish in an environment of the greatest freedom.” Challenge your classmates. Challenge your professors. But always remember to be open for a challenge yourself. We have done you a disservice if you leave UT the same as you entered.
